nyc's steak tartare diaries

About

as a seattle native beginning my fifth year in new york, i have been dedicated to getting to know the city that never sleeps through its food scene. there is nowhere better to try new dishes and cuisines: from brazilian cafes in astoria to ethiopian restaurants on the upper west side to czech diners in lenox hill, new york’s culinary landscape is among the most rich and diverse in the world. so when i got hooked to steak tartare on a trip to milan, i knew that new york would have a plethora of delectable options to offer. this page is dedicated to finding the best tartare in the city, but more importantly to encouraging others to try something new, even if it appears scary—like raw steak! if you are a tartare fan, a food enjoyer, or even just a spectator in the wings, i am thrilled to have you along on this journey.
